The Data Intensive Research Initiative of South Africa (DIRISA), a programme of the South African National Research Network (SANReN), proudly hosted the 7th Annual National Research Data Workshop at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Pretoria from 02 to 03 July 2025. On Thursday, 26 June 2025, in a proud moment for South Africa, youth representatives from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) took centre stage at the G20 Ministerial Youth Outreach Programme 2025. Established as the Government Mechanical Laboratory by the Department of Mines in 1935, the laboratory offers 90 years of experience in superior testing facilities, targeted at safety in critical lifting and hoisting equipment, as well as support for mine products in South Africa’s deep and ultra-deep underground mines.
