Meet Bongani Buthelezi, a member of the newly appointed CSIR Future Production: Mining advisory panel. Buthelezi serves as a Chief Operations Officer at Fraser Alexander and is well-known for his strong ethics in putting safety first. His expertise is primarily in iron ore and heavy minerals within the mining industry and his success in the sector is attributable to the effective management of risks through energy campaigns and leadership accountability. Buthelezi holds an MSc in metallurgical engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, as well as several qualifications in management.

Part of his role at the CSIR will include supporting the organisation in overseeing the development and operationalisation of frameworks and technologies that support zero harm in the mining sector. The CSIR is delighted to welcome Buthelezi on board and looks forward to a lasting working relationship with him.
