Female researchers working in additive manufacturing will brief the media of some of their research breakthroughs, made using the world’s largest 3D printer, which is housed at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

The media briefing forms part of Women’s Month activities to celebrate the significant role played by female researchers. These women are pioneering research and breaking barriers by being among the few women in the country to undertake such research, while improving the lives of South Africans.

Media will also learn more about the ground-breaking research on stem cell reprogramming led by female researchers from Dimakatso Gumede, who is among the few people in South Africa who have mastered stem cell reprogramming.

Members of the media will have the opportunity to visit the 3D printing facility. The printer which is the largest in the world, is part of Project Aeroswift, a collaboration between South African company Aerosud Innovation Centre and the CSIR, funded by the Department of Science and Innovation.
