DataSpace: The Open Access Institutional Data Repository Of The CSIR

DataSpace is an institutional data repository designed for the registration, archival storage, sharing, and dissemination of research data generated or collected under the auspices of the CSIR.

Key Purposes of DataSpace:

  • It provides a platform to make the CSIR’s open-access research data findable and accessible.
  • It supports the interoperability and reusability of the institute’s open-access research data.

DataSpace offers both a public interface allowing users to search and access content and private user accounts for CSIR researchers. These private accounts enable researchers to upload, share, and publish their research data. Additionally, DataSpace supports collaboration between CSIR researchers and their counterparts at other institutions.

DataSpace is powered by Figshare, a web-based platform built for research data management and dissemination. The repository offers the following functionalities:

  • Research Data Management: Provides private, controlled storage and collaborative workspaces for each CSIR user.
  • Research Data Dissemination: Includes a customizable public portal that displays all publicly available digital content at both institutional and group levels.
  • Administrative Workflow Management: Enables administrators to manage file curation, allocate storage space, and assign user permissions.
  • Reporting Dashboard: Offers insights into data usage and impact through detailed reporting tools.
