In December 2022, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), through its Information and Cybersecurity Research Centre, was inducted into the Charter of Trust (CoT) as an Associated Partner.
The CSIR is the first organisation in Africa to be admitted into the CoT’s Associated Partner Forum (APF).

On Tuesday, 8 October 2024, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) hosts a hybrid media briefing where cybersecurity experts will present the findings of four national cybersecurity surveys conducted by the CSIR. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, addressed scientists, engineers and researchers from public and private sector at the 6th CSIR Conference that took place on 5 and 6 October 2017 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria. Minister Rob Davies emphasised that in order for South Africa to be globally competitive, it needs to find new ways of boosting the economy through industrial development.
