Load shedding statistics and water cuts in South Africa
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will release annual statistics on power generation (1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022) at a hybrid media briefing scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 22 February 2023.
The annual statistics on power generation will include load shedding and energy availability factor data. The frequent power cuts being experienced in the country have had a significant impact on the country’s water distribution and processing systems, which rely heavily on a steady supply of energy. Therefore, during the briefing, energy, and water experts from the CSIR will also share data on the impact of load shedding on the distribution of water in major South African cities.
