Carel Kruger’s research interests encompass wireless sensor networks, cyber-physical systems and smart grid control algorithms. He joined the CSIR in 2012 as a candidate engineer and has since advanced to the role of senior research and development engineer in the Advanced Internet of Things Research Group.

Carel Kruger’s research interests encompass wireless sensor networks, cyber-physical systems and smart grid control algorithms. He joined the CSIR in 2012 as a candidate engineer and has since advanced to the role of senior research and development engineer in the Advanced Internet of Things Research Group.
Kruger specialises in embedded hardware and software development, as well as systems engineering for internet of things (IoT) applications. He serves as the main technical lead for several projects, including the online radiation monitoring system, real-time information management systems and the development of an integrated power systems and IoT emulator for smart transactive microgrids.
