The CSIR’s Business Transitions Research Programme  falls under the Sustainability, Economics and Waste research group within the CSIR’s Smart Places cluster.

This programme works with businesses to identify environmental-related risks that, over the long term, have the potential to affect the operational and financial performance of a business significantly. Since these risks are systemic, they require a systems thinking approach to unpack and understand the social-ecological system in which a business operates and exists. By understanding the resilience of these systems, the project team can provide scientific knowledge that companies can apply to reduce their vulnerability to environmental risks.
